My Indulgences

28 01 2010

I realise I’ve indulged myself over the past 2 months in terms of buying  reading- and stationery-related items. Pretty notebooks, good design and great magazines are definitely my weakness. I must qualify that I didn’t buy everything myself – some were very thoughtfully gifted to me over Christmas or made complimentary because of my writing contributions. Just because I was slightly appalled and amazed at the same time with the stash that I accumulated, I decided to make a ‘My favourite things’ Stationery/Book collage for the month:

What are your favourite things?

Girl’s Day Out

15 07 2009

Today I went out with my mom and Littlelam to hunt for a flower girl’s dress. Littlelam has been asked to be one of the flowergirls for a friend’s wedding in less than a month’s time, and I’m really hoping she’s going to be able to make it down the aisle without running away, freezing up or bursting into tears. My worst fear is that I might end up having to carry her down the aisle myself!!

Anyhoos, with my mom finally back from overseas, we went out for a 3-generation girl’s day out – shopping, lunch at TCC, followed by more shopping! It was great since I had SUCH a terrible week last week, save the party-filled weekend. Littlelam is crashed out for a late nap now, so I’m a little worried about the repurcussions tonight…but oh well, sacrifice for the sake of shopping. :P

Littlelam even made a random friend while she was waiting for us to finish lunch. Here she is playing with a little girl who just happened to pass by. Her new found friend kept copying her every move, and was so reluctant to leave even when her mother attempted to walk off for like the 5th time. Heh!

Shoes are a girl's next best friend!

Shoes are a girl's next best friend!

Oh, and those boots you see in the display? Er, well I couldn’t resist. Steven Madden, 70% off leh!!

Crazy Crocs Sale

25 05 2009

“13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”

Ephesians 6:13-15 (NIV)

Heh, unfortunately, the above haul of Crocs shoes above didn’t involve anything spiritual at all, except for maybe a large dose of God-given patience in the Shopping Battle. Divine patience that a) helped me to survive 1 hour in a snaking queue to ENTER the Crocs sale at Expo, and then another 30 mins to queue to pay for our shoes, and b) prevented me from yelling at all the inconsiderate bargain grabbers who cut queues and shovelled shoes into their plastic bags like there was no tomorrow.

I did loudly declare that I would never ever do this again. Motherhood really does strange things to you cos I’m one that is quite terrified in crowds, and am a bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to catching germs from others. But because I’d been having SUCH a hard time finding suitable shoes for Littlelam recently, I decided that I would get her first pair of Crocs. Yup, I’m slow on the update, but I didn’t really see what the fuss what about, until now. As a mom, I realise the practicality of the shoes, and also they do look pretty cute on kids. So I bought like 3 years worth of shoes for her. So I won’t have to go again until say, 2011?

(In case you were wondering, the ballet pumps were for someone else, the large orange caymans were for the hubby, and the teeny tiny red one is reserved as a gift. The blue one is Littlelam’s current size.)
