Road Trip

16 06 2010

We’re back from our little road trip up to Kuala Lumpur last week – hence the radio silence on this blog :P   I’m probably the only person left of the face of the modern world who doesn’t own an iPhone (or anything from Apple btw), so I’m also terribly unconnected when I’m not working at my desk at home!

It was a really good break even though Malaysia isn’t usually my first choice of holiday destination, but hey, it was convenient and affordable, so I can’t complain. I must say that the rest stops along the North-South Expressway have improved a lot – toilets in particular are more bearable since the last time I travelled by bus up to KL, and we also got our dose of A&W fast food, which we are sorely missing back in Singapore. Unfortunately, poor Littlelam couldn’t seem to stomach the rest-stop food, which gave her diarrohea along the way!! Thank God I put her in pull-up diapers (just in case) for the road trip, and it saved me a lot of grief when she had a screaming episode in the middle of the highway because of her painful tummy and leaky behind. Although, it was STILL rather torturous, being pregnant and balancing a pre-schooler over a toilet bowl while she has diarrohea. I shall not gross everyone out further cos writing this is making me feel ill all over again!

On to nicer things, like the piccies we took (not too many cos mostly we just did shopping!):

Driving along the endless North-South Expressway

The scenery along the drive was a welcome change to the usual concrete buildings we see in Singapore. I for one enjoyed pointing out the oil palm plantations (remembering my geography lessons from school), kampungs and lovely hills to Littlelam.

Piggy Bao (steamed red-bean bun) from Chinese Dim Sum restaurant

Not that we don’t have good Dim Sum in Singapore, but at least we could get a warm, ‘cheng’ (clear) meal into Littlelam for the day. And of course the buns were the highlight for her…

"Ah, this is the life!" Littlelam relaxing on the big hotel bed and watching cartoons.

Another must-eat in KL, Krispy Kreme doughnuts! I only like the original glazed ones cos I'm generally not a doughnut person!

Lovely view of the Sunway Lagoon pools from our hotel room

Littlelam enjoying the Kiddy Rides at the mall
