Thankful Thursdays #10 & #11

22 03 2012

Eeps so I’ve missed the past 2 weeks of Thankful Thursdays because I’ve been packing and moving stuff like a squirrel on steroids. It’s madness to pack an entire 6+ years of your life (and your family’s) into boxes within 4.5 days!! But thankfully, we’ve finally done it. We’ve moved in to the new apartment, which has given us it’s fair share of trouble. But, there are many many things to be thankful for, so let me count the ways…

1) Last Friday was moving day and I’m so glad we got a professional yet affordable mover, thanks to a friend’s recommendation

2) We were able to find babysitting for most of the week for the kids so I could stay home to pack

3) The kids are definitely more adaptable than the adults cos they were so excited and happy about their new rooms and managed to zonk out the first night in. (well, we concussed as well, but due to sheer exhaustion!)

4) I love my new King size Simmons bed. Worth every dollar cos it’s so great for my back and spacious enough for 1 kid to squish in with us and not have me teetering at the edge of the bed!

5) Love my rainshower. Have I ever mentioned I love rain-showers? Makes me feel like I’m living in a hotel. Oh, and I love my big bathroom cos I finally have space to put my toiletries!

6) I love how my living room design turned out and all the furniture. I still can’t believe I own 2 Philippe Starck Masters chairs, and 3 George Nelson Bubble lights. I will probably do a separate post on where and how I got all these cos I’ve been asked :)

7) Thankful to have access to a pool!

8) Very thankful to be 15 min away from church instead of 45 min away

9) Thankful for both sets of parents’ help in this time of transition.

10) Thankful that the hubby actually agreed to move

Rainshowers

4 09 2009

I haven’t been updating as often as I like, namely because I’ve only just jumped on the Facebook bandwagon and I’ve been getting addicted to farming, AND because I’ve been busy with an unusual number of birthday parties and other outings and occasions.

On Littlelam’s birthday week we went to stay at The Fairmont, Singapore for a little celebratory trip with her grandparents. Besides having fun in the pool, Littlelam enjoyed the hotel room (just running around on the carpet and jumping on the bed!) while I enjoyed the bathroom immensely.

I’ve always dreamed of having my very own huge, clean, well-furnished and comfortable bathroom, with lots of tabletop space and also a rainshower. I got to enjoy this in the room that we got, and I thus took my very first shower under a proper rainshower head. I was also enamoured by the heavenly, citrusy toiletries from Miller Harris, since I only ever use Johnson’s baby bodywash at home! Sometimes it’s just nice to get away!

Milan Furniture Fair 2009

3 05 2009

One of THE must-see shows for the design world has to be the Milan Furniture Fair. It was just over a couple of days ago, and some people I know got to go battle it out with the crowds in Italy. For me, theĀ  website was a lot of fun already – since I really don’t have much time to surf the net in the first place. Here there was a great mix of beautiful products to feast my eyes on.

Some of my favourites:

magis

Magis, Javier Mariscal. Milan Design Week

This one inspires me to make my own toy-house for my LittleLam! Can you imagine? With some paint and cardboard and helluva good skill with a penknife I reckon it can be done!

Scholten, Baijings. Milan Furniture Week

Scholten, Baijings. Milan Furniture Week

This made me think of turning kids’ scrawlings (on the furniture and sometimes walls and floors) to art!

Moroso, by Edward van Vliet, Milan Furniture Week 2008

And something more grown-up. From the previous year.
